Producing a burr-free finish on sheet steel with Norton Rapid Blend
Chris Dixon from CMD Engineering was looking to remove burrs left on sheet steel from the laser cutting process, producing a finish that was ready to paint. In order to achieve his desired finish he used a 4½" angle grinder with a Norton Rapid Blend disc, applying light pressure to remove 'mill scale' and slight burrs followed by applying firmer pressure to remove scratches, weld splatter and radius edges.
Following this process Chris achieved his desired finish in significantly less time than he would when using a flap disc P120 followed by hand sanding.
Since using the Norton Rapid Blend on sheet steel he has since used the disc to clean and polish brass with the disc again outperforming his conventional method.
