Follow along with our easy steps for application on a new hardwood floor, and then experience the power of PolyWhey for yourself.

Start by using Norton abrasive products to sand and prepare floor using NWFA industry standards. Vacuum, and wipe surface clean prior to coating. For new floors, it is recommended to apply three coats ‑‑ one coat of PolyWhey 3000 Sealer and two coats of PolyWhey 2500 or 3500 finish. More coats can be applied for high‑traffic or commercial spaces.

PolyWhey finish can be used over most professional wood floor stains. PolyWhey 3000 Sealer should be used as a first coat over stain before application of 2500 or 3500. Follow manufacturer's recommendations for dry times, and test an area for compatibility before beginning job.

Be sure to close all windows and doors, and turn off HVAC system prior to coating to ensure finish flows and levels properly. Rock containers several times and stir finish to ensure any settling is thoroughly mixed.

Use a dampened T‑bar, 1/4 inch or 3/8 inch napped roller sleeve, or painter's pad to apply sealer, and pull the sealer with the grain of the wood.

Maintain a wet edge at all times. Be sure to feather out all turns. Avoid moving too quickly, and maintain steady medium pressure to avoid applicator drips.

Apply PolyWhey 3000 Sealer at the recommended coverage rate of 500 to 600 square feet per gallon, spreading evenly across the floor. Up to two coats of sealer can be applied if desired. Allow each coat of sealer to dry one and a half to two hours.

For best results, abrade after each sealer application with a yellow Norton SandDollar or 220 grit Norton PSA sheets on a maroon pad. Then vacuum and wipe surface clean prior to coating.

Apply first coat of PolyWhey Floor Finish at the recommended coverage rate of 600 to 700 square feet per gallon, spreading evenly across the floor. Two coats are recommended, but additional coats may be applied in high‑traffic or commercial spaces.

Allow the first coat to dry one and a half to two hours. For best results, abrade after each coat of finish with a yellow Norton SandDollar or 220 grit Norton PSA sheets on a maroon pad.

Apply the second coat of finish. Allow the second coat to dry one and a half to two hours. Allow one week for full product cure.

Furniture may be replaced after 72 hours, using floor protectors. Use only a dry mop for cleaning during the first week. After that, use Norton Vermont Natural Coatings Daily Floor Cleaner as needed, along with vacuuming to keep your floors looking new.
