Blazing the way with the next generation of fibre discs

New Norton BlazeX fibre discs are blazing a trail in grinding performance

Globally recognised abrasives leader Norton, are set to introduce their new fibre discs - Norton BlazeX. Many experts are anticipating this new line of fibre discs to ‘Blaze’ a trail in maintenance, repair and operations, speeding up grinding time and reducing overall abrasive costs.

In recent years, the Norton Blaze brand has become synonymous with superior quality and performance; the go-to product for metal fabricators in rust removal and metal cleaning applications.
Now, the Norton BlazeX fibre discs look set to become worthy additions to this already established portfolio, displaying impressive results of (up to) 50% higher cut rates when compared to other premium products within the Norton collection.
Advancements in the micro-fracturing qualities of the ceramic abrasive grain has made this level of performance possible. By consistently exposing sharp grain edges, a better cut rate and longer disc life is acheived - compared to other blended ceramic alumina discs on the market.
As with all Blaze products, BlazeX fibre discs offer enhanced operator control in stock removal processes including deburring, blending and other metal preparation applications. Manufactured with a heavy fibre backing that not only provides a better disc face to surface grinding advantage, it is also highly resistant to tearing in heavy applications. The net effect is a product with long life, requiring fewer changeovers and ultimately resulting in less labour time.

"The BlazeX disc is perfect for carbon steel and other soft metals, as it's been developed to cut cooler for better work-piece integrity and offer longer life, meaning fewer discs are needed." Explains Maud Camille Enee, Product Manager, Saint-Gobain Abrasives EMEA.
"On average, we are seeing about a +50% cut rate using BlazeX when compared to other products out there."
Norton BlazeX fibre discs are available in three sizes consisting of 115mm, 125mm and 180mm. Coarse grinding applications are additionally supported through key grit sizes ranging from 36 to 120.
