New Non-woven production & conversion plant in Maia, Portugal
Our new, state-of-the-art non-woven production facility, located in Maia, Portugal is a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to meet the increasing demand for high quality non-woven abrasives across various industries in EMEA over the last decade. Expanding output and modernising equipment, improving processes and ultimately increasing efficiency are part of our aim to provide customers with the best products and a premium service from a manufacturer able to meet their daily needs.
Meeting growing demand with advanced technology
Non-woven abrasives are versatile tools, essential for a wide range of applications, from surface preparation to rust removal, and are used on metals, wood, ceramics, and stone. To address growing needs, the new plant houses a newly installed maker and conversion unit allowing us to offer a broader range of product dimensions, including larger jumbo sizes and slabs, exceeding current industry standards and opening new possibilities for our customers.

The Maia plant is designed with state-of-the-art technology that not only enhances production capabilities but also minimizes environmental impact. Our production ovens and pollution control systems significantly reduce gas consumption and CO2 emissions, contributing to our overarching sustainability goals. In line with Saint-Gobain's sustainability commitments, the plant also features photovoltaic roof panels that generate renewable energy. This initiative further reduces our carbon footprint and supports our mission to create a more sustainable future for our employees, customers, and the surrounding community.
