The training programme is designed to equip operators with the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to use these machines safely and efficiently, while meeting all current employer regulations—including HASAWA, PUWER, and COSHH. It is ideal for organisations looking to upskill their teams or deliver in-house training.
What the Training Includes
The comprehensive curriculum includes:
- Legal requirements for machine use
- Wearing the correct PPE
- Machine safety checks and blade/wheel selection and fitting
- Practical, hands-on training in safe operation
Successful participants receive an industry-recognised certificate.

There are two course options:
Operator Training
Half-day class and practical session, suitable for up to 8 operators per course. This course has flexible delivery and can be delivered at the following locations:
- On-site at your location.
- Off-site, provided a suitable static saw is available for practical training.
- At the dedicated Cos Training Centre in Bristol.
Successful participants receive a 5-year NOCN Operators certificate.
Train the Trainer
One-day course for larger organisations delivering their own in-house certificates, or those wishing to deliver NOCN training (trainers require an L3 Training Certificate).
Train the Trainer can be delivered either at the customer's site or at the dedicated Cos Training Centre in Bristol.
Successful participants receive a 5-year Norton Clipper Train the Trainer certificate.
