How to prepare a car for primer and painting

Using the Norton Cyclonic® Multi-Air sanding system, we show you the Norton way to prepare automotive primer ahead of painting. The Cyclonic range is made up of colour coded abrasives with a cyclone inspired hole configuration pattern, designed to increase dust extraction and reduce sanding and clean-up time. STEP 1 - Manual sanding After priming the surface, tear off a piece of the the red pre-cut roll and apply to a sanding block attached to a vacuum, to level off the surface. STEP 2 - Machine levelling Take the salmon colour disc which has a foam backing to absorb contours, and use with a D.A sander to smooth out the primed surface. Wipe the surface clean. STEP 3 - Primer finishing Use the fuschia disc which has a very fine abrasive grain and foam backing together with a foam interface pad to ensure all contours are smooth. Then, take the finest grade, the turquiose disc, to fade out and blend the sanded areas into the surrounding area for the smoothest finish. STEP 4 - Hard to reach areas For those areas that are tough to access with a machine, use the grey ultra fine Norton BearTex hand pad, for gentle cutting action on edges and corners. Wipe clean to remove any excess dust particles. You're now ready to paint! For more informaiton, visit www.nortonabrasives.com or contact your local Norton representative.
