Popular Mechanics Recognizes Norton RazorStar® Fiber Discs

Norton RazorStar fiber discs

Popular Mechanics, a magazine dedicated to analyzing the latest developments in technology and engineering, has named Norton RazorStar Fiber Discs as a winner of their Best Tools of 2025, Accessories Category. The magazine reaches over 13.5 million readers through its print and online publications.

RazorStar’s Aggressive Grain

Popular Mechanics experts tested the RazorStar fiber discs extensively and cited the aggressive, engineered shaped ceramic abrasive grain as a core reason for choosing RazorStar. They said the grain on the fiber discs was “so aggressive, in fact, we used them to dress messy welds and remove slag and splatter. We also used them on sheet metal for surface prep and found that they don’t put heat into the metal like grinding discs do.”

Breakthrough Technology

Norton RazorStar Fiber Discs were launched in January 2024 as part of a line of products that also includes quick-change discs and belts. The entire RazorStar line features the breakthrough engineered shaped ceramic grain technology designed with razor-sharp cutting points and consistent shape from grain to grain. This unique, patented geometry and tough micro-structure enable the grain to stay sharp, exposing new cutting points as the grain fractures. In addition, the grain is densely concentrated in an upright position for optimum aggression and durability.
