Blending and refining is one of the key steps in metal fabrication and manufacturing processes. This follows on from the stock removal step as you will need to blend and refine the scratches which unavoidably result from removing weld seams and excess material. Surface blending and refining is vital for preparing the work-piece for paint or powder coating or finishing operations if applicable.

Weld Removal To A Commercial Finish (Stainless Steel)

BLENDING & REFINING Vortex Rapid Blend 5AM discs are ideal for blending applications and will remove grind lines left by the fibre disc during the stock removal stage. The bright finish left by the Vortex Rapid Blend can be used either as the final finish or as an intermediate step.

BLENDING & REFINING Vortex Rapid Prep (SCM) Discs are comfortable to use with finer finishing capabilities. Discs are best used at an angle of 10-15° preventing scratch patterns. A coarse grade disc is used to enable us to refine the finish from step 2.

Non Ferrous Metal Preparation (For Paint And Coatings)

BLENDING & REFINING A medium Vortex Rapid Prep (SCM) disc should be used after the fibre disc to impart a finish ready to be coated as it removes scratch patterns and provides a key for any surface coating or paint to adhere to minimising the risk of peeling.
