Right Angle Grinder (RAG) – Deburring

Deburring or ‘burr removal’ is a common practice in metal fabrication and manufacturing processes. Burrs appear when sharp pieces of metal form or metal compression occur during the early fabrication stages. Deburring is a critical stage of metal fabrication to ensure that a part is properly prepped to improve the functionality and longevity of the metal part. It also ensures that the part is safe to handle as any sharp edges are removed and will also aid in providing a better surface for finishing and painting.

There is a choice of grades to choose from which will cater for light to heavier deburring, as well as softer to harder deburring without causing any potential risk or damage to the workpiece.

The high performance Norzon grain of Norton X-Treme R860 flap discs maximises stock removal to deliver an aggressive, consistent cutting action. Flap discs deliver longer life and more comformability compared to a fibre disc, allowing you to adapt to the workpiece edge for better results.
Grit P60 produces light finish lines, which can be easily removed using a BearTex non-woven surface blending disc; use a powerful angle grinder above 1200W for optimum performance.

REMOVAL OF SMALL BURRS

The Norton High Strength disc F2303 A Medium is able to quickly and efficiently remove burrs whilst simultaneously rounding sharp edges.
The open structure and soft nature of the product reduces the risk of creating flat spots and changing the geometry of the component.

REMOVAL OF LARGE BURRS

The Norton Rapid Blend U4401 3SF disc is more compact and heavy duty enabling removal of larger burrs, that are created by laser cutting and also sharp edges.
The solid 3D structure of the product gives longer life and better productivity.
