Seminars and trainings

In addition to comprehensive research and development work, the Grinding Technology Centre Europe offers a wide range of seminars and trainings for a practice-oriented transfer of knowledge in all areas of grinding technology. Our forward-looking machinery coupled with modern training technologies and premises form an excellent basis for building up skills and imparting practical expertise. As we cover the entire European region, we offer our seminars in German and English.

Grinding Basics (EN & GER)

Grinding is a manufacturing process which belongs according to DIN 8580 to the abrasive machining processes. The tools used have – in contrast to turning, milling and drilling tools - geometrically undefined cutting edges. Typical abrasives are corundum (Al2O3), silicon carbide (SiC), cubic crystalline boron nitride (cBN) or diamond (C).

The aim of the seminar is to improve the fundamental understanding of the grinding process which enables you to respond more effectively to day-to-day challenges in grinding applications. The seminar will cover a broad range of subjects, starting with grinding and dressing tools, their build-up, grinding and dressing, process optimization and cooling conditions that support an economic grinding process.

Round Tools Grinding (EN)

Round tools grinding is the grinding process for manufacturing and repairing drills and mills on a 5-axis CNC grinding machine. These tools are produced from a solid cylindrical rod of HSS or tungsten carbide. The required grinding processes range from fluting with very high material removal rates, to sharpening, in which very high accuracies require good knowledge in wheel preparation and parameter selection to achieve best quality production.

The aim of the seminar is to improve the fundamental understanding of the grinding process which enables you to respond more effectively to day-to-day challenges in grinding applications.

The seminar will give an in-depth insight starting from the grinding tools preparation, look into the relevant process parameters during grinding, and presenting methods of troubleshooting to further improve the final quality of the products.
